CAPSTONE: The feeling that I took away after reading these quotes I’ve
chosen about addiction is that you are not alone. Our Heavenly Father wants us to pray to Him
and he hears us. The Lord is always
there to turn to if you need someone to listen about your struggles. Depending upon the type of addiction, we are
given the steps in order to repent and free ourselves from our torment. Most importantly, we must know that whatever
it is we are doing, we are still loved regardless of our actions. I’ve struggled with my weight for years, and
it is my addiction. I know that I can
turn to Heavenly Father for peace and that he will walk beside me as I learn to
overcome this struggle. My favorite
quote in this topic is by Boyd K Packer when he says, "Your body really is
the instrument of your mind and the foundation of your character." I believe this to be true. If we take care of our bodies and fill it
with good food and thoughts, it makes us better people and helps us become the
happy, dedicated, daughter of God my Heavenly Father knows I can become. I pray that as the years go by I can continue
to work on loving myself more and realize the importance of my own personal temple. -becki johnson
1. "If anyone who is addicted has a desire to overcome, then there is a way to spiritual freedom—a way to escape from bondage—a way that is proven. It begins with prayer—sincere, fervent, and constant communication with the Creator of our spirits and bodies, our Heavenly Father. It is the same principle in breaking a bad habit or repenting from sin of any kind. The formula for having our heart, our body, our mind, and our spirit transformed is found in the scriptures."

"Choose to Believe. Believe in God. Accept
yourself as His child, created in His image. He loves you and wants you to be
happy. He wants you to grow through life’s choices and become more like Him. He
pleads that you will “reconcile [yourself] to the will of God, and not to the
will of the … flesh.” (2 Ne. 10:24.)

"Every
soul confined in a prison of sin, guilt, or perversion has a key to the gate.
The key is labeled “repentance.” If you know how to use this key, the adversary

"Let me say again that the family is the
main target of evil’s attack and must therefore be the main point of our
protection and defense. As I said once before, when you stop and think about it
from a diabolically tactical point of view, fighting the family makes sense to
Satan. When evil wants to strike out and disrupt the essence of God’s work, it
attacks the family. It does so by attempting to disregard the law of chastity,
to confuse gender, to desensitize violence, to make crude and blasphemous
language the norm, and to make immoral and deviant behavior seem like the rule
rather than the exception."

"The gospel teaches us that relief from
torment and guilt can be earned through repentance. Save for those few who
defect to perdition after having known a fulness, there is no habit, no
addiction, no rebellion, no transgression, no offense exempted from the promise
of complete forgiveness."

"Always and ever, there must be an exercise
of discipline—moral discipline founded on faith in God the Father and the Son
and what They can achieve with us through the atoning grace of Jesus Christ. In

(2 Peter 2:9)." -President D. Todd Christofferson,

"Should there be anything amiss in your
life, there is open to you a way out. Cease any unrighteousness. Talk with your
bishop. Whatever the problem, it can be worked out through proper repentance.
You can become clean once again. Said the Lord, speaking of those who
repent,“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow,” “and
I,the Lord, remember them no more.” -President Thomas S. Monson, "Priesthood
